He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Agnes Hunter, who he married on 13 JAN 1865 in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Their six known children were William Anthony (1865-1954), Agnes Davidson (1867-1936), Mary Phillips (1869->1871), Sarah [Susan] Hunter (1871-c1958), Janet Philip (1873-?) and Margaret Hunter (1875-?).
His second wife was Agnes Fleming, who he married on 26 JAN 1876 in Knightsword, New Kilpatrick, Dumbartonshire, Scotland. Their seven known children were Thomas Fleming (1876-?), Elizabeth Vicars [Liz] (1878-1906), Richard Fleming (1880-1963), Robert (1882-?), Georgia Jean Dawson (1884-1907), Christina [Tina] Hunter (1888-?) and George Smith (1892-?).

Richard Hotchkiss, age 73, died at his home in Dietz at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening as a result of complications arising from old age. The immediate cause of death was a stroke of paralysis with which he was afflicted about a week ago.

Mr. Hotchkiss was born in Scotland. He came to America 32 years ago. He was a miner the greater part of his life, and since coming to America held a number of responsible positions in mines in the eastern states and in the fields in the southern part of Wyoming. He was a resident of Dietz about eleven years.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 this afternoon at the church in Dietz. Rev. M. DeWitt Long, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Sheridan will conduct the service. Interment will be made at Mount Hope cemetery.
