Robert was born about 1521 in Shropshire, England, the son of Richard ap_Eignion and Alice Syer.
His wife was Margaret Warter. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Roger (c1541-?), Thomas (c1545-1587) and Robert (c1547-?).

!Notes: Robert ap Eignion [alias Robert Benyon]. 2nd son. Was 8 years old in 1529. He was admitted a Burgess of Shrewsbury, 4th March, 1551-2, and he was a Trustee under the Will of his elder brother Adam Benyon in 1560.
