Thomas was born in AUG 1763 in England, the son of Samuel Benyon and Lydia Yate.

His wife was Jane Dalton, who he married in MAR 1798 in England. Their six known children were Thomas (c1800-?), Joseph (c1802-?), Henry Bonbinius (c1804-c1849), Mary (c1806-?), Emma (c1808-?) and Jane Lydia (c1810-1826).
