Biography
William Butler "the younger" was the son of Sir William Butler, 1st Lord Butler of Wem, by his 2nd wife, Ela de Harborough.
He was the younger half-brother of Sir William, de jure 2nd Lord Butler.
He was probably born around 1306 and was alive when his father died in 1334, whereupon his mother settled some of her property on him .
A case from the Plea Rolls
At Michaelmas in 2 Henry IV, 1401, at Salop, "Thomas Molynton and Elizabeth, his wife, sued Ankaret, formerly wife of Richard Talbot, Chivaler, for the manor of Dodynton, which Ralph le Boteller, of Wemme, and Matilda, his wife, gave to William, their son, and Ankaret, his wife, and the heirs of their bodies.[1] This pedigree was provided:[1]
