Notes: Location Exton, Rutland. Date 1382/3. Thomas settled and raised a child in Hulcote, Northamptonshire 34.66 miles from Leicester where we find a possible sponsor in Sir Anketill Mallore. This is also 40.31 miles from Exton, Rutland which is at least within visiting distance. Thus of the sons of Roger Hotchkiss, born about the 1280s, Thomas, born about 1312, seems most likely as this Thomas’s father. A birth of about 1342 would make him 40 years old at this post, which seems like a good age for someone at this kind of an estate chapel post. I should also mention that John Hawkins of Bedfordshire had a son located in Northamptonshire at about the time that Thomas would have been there. These two fathers were second cousins.

Note: Location is Norwich before the mayor and a clerk. Creditor for £170 is Sir John White and Henry Lanvynour of Norwich. Debtor is Thomas Hoggekyne [Hotchkiss] of Cawston, Norfolk. Basically they agree to serve Thomas. There is no further description. Thus possibilities include: money held by a priest being demanded by another person, a debt attempt on a deseased person, or an actual debt not paid. A particular problem is we have no actual Hotchkiss this far east yet at this time. Our Chaplain here is the closest known Thomas so far. Hopefully we will find more information later.
