Biography
It is presumed he was the William Maynard who became a freeman of the Mercers' Company in 1558, son of William Maynard.[1]
His mother may have been Dorothy Goddard, daughter of Thomas Goddard of Ogborne, Wiltshire[2] or Margaret Goddard, daughter of Thomas Goddard of Holborn.[3]

Queen Mary sold Sandford Manor in 1558 to William Maynard, Citizen and Mercer of London, who in 1566 puchased Purdey’s and Veyson’s at Sands End. "Sir William Maynard, son of William Maynard and Angel Baskerville, settled at Curriglas, near Tallow, Ireland, and died seized of the Manor of Sandford in 1630".[7] [Notes and Queries[3] indicates Sir William Maynard was a grandson of William Maynard and Angel Baskerville.]
Research Notes
A William Maynard became a freeman of the Mercers' Company in 1533, his Master having been Edward Burlas.[10]
John Pakyngton, of London, Mercer, sold Goodriche’s to William Maynard of London, mercer. Subsequently it was in the occupation of Evangelist Maynard, his brother.[11]
