!Notes: Most transcribers have shown this name as Izota, which is very rare and not used in this area. I think the name looks more like Isota [see s in Hoskins in original image] which comes from Wales or Germany as shown below. I have placed Isota as being the sister of the other girl who married a Mynterne and also shown the husbands as brothers, with the idea that their family may have moved to Beaminster, where they both married. This is stretching a bit, but the best I could find.

Origin:Welsh
Other Origin:British, German
Meaning:Fair lady; Ice battle
Isota is a feminine name that acts as a fun spin on the classic Welsh name Isolde. Translating to “fair lady,” it makes for a lovely choice to celebrate baby’s natural beauty and noble demeanor. If you’re looking for an edgier tone, Isota can also come from the German name Iseult, meaning “ice battle.” For a folkloric spin, Isota can connect baby to the legend of Tristan and Iseult, a tragic love story that includes all of the classic tropes, from a love potion to death by broken heart. Whether baby is growing their fierce strength or learning more about centuries-old legends, the name Isota will give them plenty of inspiration.
