John was born in 1696 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire Scotland, the son of Gilbert McClure and Catherine Patterson.
He died in 1732. The place is not known.
His wife was Janet McKnight. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Andrew (1721-1750).
