!Notes: Thomas earned a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1962 and an M.A. degree from Webster Groves College in St.. Louis, Missouri, in 1977. He was a feature writer and reporter from 1962 until 1966 and since then has been employeed in Service to Military Installations for the American Red Cross. He served in this capicity in Korea, Viet Nam, Turkey, and Germany, with five years spent in the latter country.
!P: From 1954 to 1955, Thomas served with the United States Army Finance Corps at SHAPE headquarters in Paris, France. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1955. In 1976, he joined the United States Army Reserves as a Specialist 5.
