Alexander was born about 1786 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland, the son of Alexander Easton and Janet Simpson.
His wife was Agnes Borrowman, who he married in ABT 1805. The place has not been found. Their eleven known children were Alexander (1806-1882), Jean (c1809-1888), John (c1810-1878), Agnes (c1812-1894), Robert (c1814-?), Matthew (c1816-c1886), Mary (c1819-1855), Elizabeth (c1821-1900), Margaret (c1823-1883), Rowena (1826-1907) and George (c1828-1889).
