Mclachan was born about 1829 in Barony, Lanark, Scotland, the son of Walter Haddow and Isabella McLachlan.
He died about 1861. The place is not known.
His wife was Susan Love. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Walter (c1854-?), David Love (c1854-?), Janet McLachlan (c1858-?) and John (c1860-?).
