His wife was Ellen Smith. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their eight known children were Olive (c1862-?), George H. (c1864-?), James K. (c1866-?), Edwin Chauncey (1868-?), Mabel (c1870-?), Sylvester (c1872-?), Frederick (c1874-?) and Chandler (c1876-1885).
