Southworth was born on 18 MAY 1805 in Jamaica, Vermont, the son of Obadiah Phinney and Lydia Puffer.
He died on 8 NOV 1866 in Granger, New York.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Elizabeth Price, who he married on 5 DEC 1826. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Julia Ann (1828-1829), Corwin (1830-1861), Abishai Buckley (1833-1833), John Nelson (1836-?), Lorenzo (1845-?) and Lonzo (1845-?).
His second wife was Elizabeth Baldwin Jones, who he married on 1 MAR 1855. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Wilson Jones (1856-1928), Grange Scott (1859-1884) and Willard Houghton (1862-?).
