He died in 1832 in Addison, Vermont.

His wife was Bethia Carter, who he married on 19 JAN 1786 in Warren, Connecticut. Their seven known children were Timothy Washburn (1787-1828), Solomon (1789-1808), Martin (1791-1872), John Carter (1793-?), Hannah (1795-?), Hartley (1797-1860) and Merova (1801-1875).
