James was born on 20 SEP 1712 in Portland, Middlesex County, Connecticut, the son of William Stanclift and Olive Stanbrough.
He died on 22 DEC 1785 in Southbury, Connecticut.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Martha Wood, who he married on 22 DEC 1737. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Stanbrough Perigrine (1762-c1820).
His second wife was Mary Lewis, who he married on JAN 24 1750/1 in Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut. They had no known children.
