~MY ALSOP FAMILY~
The son of my ancestors, JOHN & TEMPERENCE ALSOP, he immigrated from London in 1635 in the ELIZABETH & ANN at age 14 years. He took the oath of Fidelity in 1644 and was admitted a freeman on 8 June 1657 in New Haven.
His wife was Elizabeth Preston . In spring of 1652/3, Joseph Alsop was freed from training and watching because he was master of a vessel above 15 tons. He was called "Skipper Alsop" in the New Haven Town Records in 1687.
He was the cousin of my ancestor, ELIZABETH BALDWIN, wife of RICHARD BALDWIN.
