ESTHER IVES was the daughter of my ancestors, THOMAS AND MARY BENEDICT of Norwalk, CT. and the grand-daughter of THOMAS & MARY BENEDICT and ANDREW & RACHEL MESSENGER, the four grandparents being my immigrant ancestors.
Thomas Benedict was an original proprietor of Norwalk and Andrew Messenger was an original settler of Jamaica, L.I., New York.
Esther Benedict & Joseph Ives were married on May 11, 1697 in Wallingford, Conn. They were the parents of 11 children:
Thomas Ives, Elizabeth Hitchcock, Hannah Sperry, Esther Ives, Abigail Sperry -- my ancestor, Joseph Ives, Phineas Ives, Nathaniel, Ephraim, Dinah, and Stephen Ives.
