William F. Cahill M.D.

William F. Cahill, M.D., age 76, of Glen Ellyn, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife, Pat O'Neill Cahill; his daughters, Cynthia [Jim] Brown, Sarah [Terry] Finnegan, Ann [Francis] Dayton, Susan [Bill] Murray and stepdaughters, Jean O'Neill [Noel] Hope, Catherine [James] O'Connell and Margaret [James] Pilcher; brother of Maureen Kinnavy and the late Fr. Patrick Cahill C.S.V. He was loved and admired by 19 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and countless friends and colleagues. Bill was born in Chicago and raised in Oak Park. He attended Fenwick High School and Loyola University, where he went on to obtain his medical degree. He practiced ophthalmology in Elmhurst and Lombard for 38 years and was a longtime member of the physician's staff at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Bill was married to Frances ''Dinky'' Keane Cahill for 31 years before she passed away in 1985. Throughout his life Bill was an avid gardener, sportsman, history buff, bird watcher and recreational pilot. He loved to spend time outdoors and in the company of his many wonderful friends. Visitation Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton [1 blk. East of Naperville Road]. Funeral Saturday 9:15 a.m. to St.. Petronille Church, Glen Ellyn.
