Hi Rex,

Just thought I'd update you on my DNA connections. To remind you, my line goes back to Cornelius Hotchkies and Agnes Connochie both b. abt 1765 in Carronshore. C's parents were Cornelius Hotchkies and Janet Stewart who migrated from Madeley, Shropshire.

The DNA matches I'm talking about are with, currently, 14 different individuals in the US who all trace back to Samuel Hotchkiss (1623-1663) and Elizabeth Cleverly in New Haven, Connecticut who emigrated from Shropshire abt. 1640. The 14 connections are through 5 sons of Samuel.

I believe my line must come down through one of Samuel's brothers making our common ancestors their parents John Thomas Hotchkiss and Margaret Nevitt. They would be my 10th great-grandparents.

For the time being I've assumed that the line is through Thomas (1611-1693) and Grace, through their son John m. Mary > son John m. Elizabeth Manton > Edward m. Ann Hatton > Cornelius m. Janet Stewart

Most of the connections have been worked back on my Ancestry account and I'll add them to my web-site as soon as I can

All the best
Tom

vening - I hope you do not mind me contacting you but I may have some historical documents that relate the Hotchkiss Family.

A month ago I brought a box of misc. documents at an auction in Wales, UK, the box contained a number of items I collect. Anyway I have been going through the various documents and have found a number relating to a Samual Hotchkiss plus other family members including marriage partners. All relate to various accounts, land transactions etc.

Looking at your web site I noticed you made reference to the Hotchkiss of Shropshire so you may be interested in these items.

I have not put them into any order but I believe they date from the end of the 1800's to the early 1900's

Let me know if these would be of interest to you

I did try emailing you but message was returned undelivered, address not recognised

Regards Neil

Hi, you have my ggg grandfather Samuel Hotchkiss b 1798 in Ringley Lancashire England, on your tree.
I have been researching his descendants for many years, and have lots of details that I would be pleased to add to your tree. If you are interested, can you let me know how to get my tree to you.
Thanks

Admin reply: I tried emailing at the number provided, but delivery failed. Try emailing me at the contact us link on the main page, and let me know to look there with a message here, as otherwise it may take me awhile to find it there. I don't use that email often as being exposed on the site, it gets too much junk mail.

I've added yet another update to my website.
The Genealogy now includes 26,645 individuals and 8,678 families.
The Hotchkiss line is now back to about 1280 AD.
I've continued to fill in and organize the records prior to 1630.
This required going through another type of records which included
legal records such as wills, deeds, apprenticeship, elections, heraldry,
college and guild records, as the more direct records, such as church records
don't go back this far. I've made another pass through all of the pre-1630 entries,
taking these records and trying to associate the earlier church records
with these other records. I've also reworked the main page of the website
a bit, bringing in more information on interesting topics such as
Norman castles, knights, arms, manors, and old legends.
I hope you all enjoy. As always, constructive comments are welcome.
If your line isn't either here or in the Hotchkiss Family association
records and you have records going back at least to those who are deceased,
so that I can pick up the trail, please send them along and I will try to
take them further back. At this point, I'm hoping that maybe the Hotchkiss
Family Association might be willing to provide a GEDCOM file, so that
I could load their detail since Samuel, as I don't really want to re-type
all their work and the lines are now connected.
