Biography
Nicholas Longford, son of Sir John Longford and Joan Byron, was born about 1288.
Nicholas married, first, Katherine Brailsford, daughter of Sir Henry Brailsford of Brailsford, Derbyshire. Their marriage was arranged in June 1301 when Nicholas was only 14. John and Katherine had the following child:
Katherine, m. 1st William de Hintes of Hints, Staffordshire, m. 2d Edward de Montgomery
John's first wife, Katherine, died sometime before 1322, as about that date, Nicholas married, second, Alice le Botiller. Nicholas and Alice had the following children :
Nicholas, b. about 1334, m. before April 1347 Alice Deincourt, d. May 23, 1373
Thomas
Alice
Nicholas died on February 8, 1356. No reliable source has been found that establishes his place of death. Since he held substantial properties in both Derbyshire and Staffordshire, it is likely that he died in one of those shires.
