In addition to the manor of Ruff rd, held
[as formerly] of the Abbot of Chester by
a rent of 40. and valued at £20 clear,
he held lands, &c., in Harwood, Tottle-
worth, Croston, Mawdesley, Longton,
Hutton, Penwortham, Howick, Brether-
ton, Ulnes Watton, and a great number
of other places in the county, with the
advowsons of chantries at Croston, Ruf-
ford, Harwood and Longton. The will
of 2 July 1522 is given, settling the
estate upon Robert Hesketh, and several <<<< Still Rufford heir.
feoffments are recited. Alice Haward <<<< Alice Haward appears to be his mistress and the real mother of the said bastards, as well as his later wife.
had married William Tarleton of Rufford. <<<< Alice had remariied before the will was completed in court.
