Biography
Parents were John Barker alias Coverall of Coulhurst alias Calverhall of Colchurst at Market Drayton and Joan Burton of Longnor.[1][2][3]
Among John Barker's children was firstborn Edward Barker of Wolverton, who married Katharen Egerton and who died 1558.[4]
John and Elizabeth had a son, James Barker of Haghmond Abbey, who married Dorothy Clive of Stych in Shropshire on 6 Jul 1548, producing two grandsons,
Rowland of Haghmond, Burgess of Shrewsbury and Sheriff of Shropshire ; and,
Richard of Abbey Foregate, Barrister of Gray's Inn, Recorder of Shrewsbury, Judge of North Wales, and MP for Shrewsbury in 1604, buried at Wroxeter 9 Dec 1636.[5]
John and his wife also had a daughter, Alice who married Sir Thomas, Leigh Lord Mayor of London and is referred to as Dame Alice of Caverhall , heiress of Stoneleigh Abbey, progenitor of the Lords Leigh of Stoneleigh.[6]
