Townley Ward Dowding was born on 15 Dec 1817 and baptised at Fisherton Anger on 26 Jan 1818 with his parents named as John and Elizabeth Dowding of Sarum.[1]

The Rev Townley Ward Dowding, Clerk of Downton in Wiltshire was married to Elizabeth Eamonson the only daughter of the late William Eamonson of Beal in Yorkshire, at St John's Church in Paddington on 5 Sep 1844 by the Rev B.C. Dowding.[2][3][4][5]

Townley Ward Dowding, a widower and Clerk of Preshute Vicarage, married Lucretia Frances Turner, a spinster of Preshute House, at Preshute on 12 Jun 1855 with the fathers named as John Dowding, a Banker, and Henry Blois Turner a Lieutenant Colonel.[6]Lucretia was his eldest daughter and Henry was in the H.E.I.S Bombay Engineers.[7]

Townley Ward Dowding of The Rectory, Brixton Deverill was buried at Preshute in Wiltshire on 28 Mar 1881 aged 63.[8]He died on 23 Mar 1881 and his Will was proved by his wife Lucretia on 29 Apr 1881.[9]

His gravestone shared with his wife Lucretia at Preshute Church says that he was the Vicar of the Parish for 10 years and Rector of St Peter's Marlborough for 16 years, of Brixton Deverill, and has his dates as 15 Dec 1817 to 23 Mar 1881.
