Biography
James Whitney is the son of Robert Whitney and his second wife Elizabeth Vaughan.[1] WRG estimates his birth to be about 1466 at Whitney, Herefordshire and has a source for his death of 31 July 1500, probably at Whitney, Herefordshire.[2]

James married Blanche, fourth daughter and co-heir of Simon Milbourne,[3] about 1490. A 2006 article by Robert Leigh Ward and Tim Doyle concludes that James and Blanche had the following children :[4]

Sir James, b. c. 1493, d. s.p.;
Watkin, b. c. 1495, m. Margaret Reese;
Robert, b. c. 1497 [d. young?];
A daughter. Elizabeth b. c. 1499, m. Thomas Morgan per WRG.
Melville has the following as a daughter of James, however the Ward-Doyle article does not include her:[3]
