Tom Williams Dies

High Point Man Succumbs At His Home Sunday

Thomas Henry Williams, 64, who lived on Hahn farm, known as the Billie Short place, northwest of High Point, died suddenly at his home about 9 o’clock Sunday night, July 4, 1937. He had shucked wheat last week but seemed as as usual until late in the day Sunday when he began complaining. He had been bothered with asthma for some time.

Mr. Williams, a son of Mr and Mrs. Henry Williams, was born in Pettis county April 10, 1878. He spent most of his life in Pettis and adjoining counties, having lived on what is known as the Gregory place near Unio Christian Church before going to the Hajn farm.

Dec 1, 1852, he married Margaret Elvira Pryor. Ten children the following eight of whom survive, were born to this union: Arty Lee Robert, Kansas City; Lucy May Blankenship, Bunceton; James Willie, Kansas City; Clody Golden, Latham; Thomas Elmer, California; Lester Allen, Kansas City; Ethel Alma Crawford, California, and Cecil of the home. Other survivors include his widow; a brother and two sisters, George Williams of Independence, Mrs Mry Howard of Iowa, and Mrs. Hugh Brent of Warrensbourg, and twenty-six grandchildren.

When a young man he professed faith in Christ and joined the Salem Baptist church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Versailles Baptist church, the Rev. L.G. Christian officiating. Burial was at the Veresailles cemetery.

Mr. Williams was the third man to die suddenly in this vicinity in less than three weeks.
