!P: She was born May 26, 1908, in Minneapolis, Kan., the daughter of James W. and Ada Laughlin Barkley. She graduated from Manhattan High School and attended Kansas State University.
!P: Mrs. Chalmers was an educational secretary with Manhattan High School and Unified School District 501 at Randolph Elementary and Topeka High School, until retiring in 1973.
!P: She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Topeka Association of Educational Office Personnel and National Association of Office Personnel.
!P: She married William R. Chalmers on March 29, 1934, in Topeka. He preceded her in death April 14, 1988.
!P: Survivors include two daughters, Jane C. McClain, Kansas City, Mo., and Joann Kelyman, Englewood, Colo.; a son, Glenn B. Chalmers, Little Rock, Ark.; a grandson, Tom McClain, Pleasanton, Calif.; two granddaughters, Susan McClain, Topeka, and K risten Chalmers, Maumelle, Ark.; and two great granddaughters, Ayla McClain, Topeka, and Samantha McClain, Pleasanton, Calif.
!P: Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery following the service.
!P: Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Heart Association or Westminister Presbyterian Church.
!P: Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
