!Note: The following was taken from his obituary: Named for Howell Richards, the first husband of Margaret Sharp, Howell was the second of three children born to Pearl and George Foster at Burlingame, Osage County, Kansas. He grew to manhood at Bu rlingame. His mother Pearl Moore died when Howell was 10 years old. Howell enlisted in the army during World War II, at 18, early in March of 1940. He served 18 months, following which he was honorably discharged as physically disabled. For hi s last three years he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. Besides his father and grandmother, he was survived by his step-mother, Nellie Drake Foster of the home, and two sisters, Ida Nadine, and Nellie May Foster of Topeka. On V-J Day, 15 Au g 1045 four men, Howell Foster, Harold Croucher, Glen Seastrom and George Vauter, were in a car east of town (Burlingame). It crashed and three of the passengers were thrown clear of the car. However, Howell Foster was pinned in the wreckage whic h was burned up. There was a grave-side funeral service.
