!Notes: Rex Sr. graduated from East High School of Wichita, Kansas in 1954. He was a student at Wichita State University in 1954/1955, and at Eldorado College in 1955/1956. He played football at both colleges until he injured his knee. He als o wrestled and boxed.

He married Patricia Coleman on 30 Jun 1956. Both worked for Boeing. They had two children Rex James Hotchkiss, Jr., and David Edward Hotchkiss. Rex Hotchkiss and Patricia Coleman were divorced in Wichita, Kansas. The divorce was final on 4 Ap r 1960.

He met Marsha Padock in Boston while still working for Boeing in 1959. They had one child Cynthia Lynn Hotchkiss. The two separated before the Cynthia was born. Marsha moved to Florida and later to Tennessee, and Rex did not see Cynthia or kno w where she was until 1986. At that time Cynthia was ill and her doctor thought she might have a form of cancer. She didn't. However, the doctor wanted to know about her family's medical history with regard to cancer. At this point her mothe r told her about her father. She searched for him in the Wichita phone book. Luckily, she found Jimmy Allen Hotchkiss listed as James A. Hotchkiss and called him thinking he might be her grandfather. Jimmy Allen referred her to James Arthur Hotc hkiss, Rex's father.

At this point, Rex moved to Los Angeles, California. There he met and married Nancy Kelly. They had one child, Adam Kirt Hotchkiss. They were divorced in about 1973.

He worked for Pico Metal near Los Angeles. Then he worked at the Los Angeles Times as a Pressman from about 1970 until he retired in 1992.

!Obituary: Rex James Hotchkiss Sr., 66, Glendale, California, died July 3, 2003, in a Riverside, California Hospital. He was born July 17, 1936, at Burlingame, the son of James A. and Alice L. Woolery Hotchkiss. He grew up in Wichita and Houston , Texas. He graduated from Wichita East High School in 1954 and was chosen as a member of the First Team, All State Football Team. He was a student at Wichita State University in 1954/55 and at El Dorado College in 1955/56. He played football at b oth schools until he injured his knee. He also wrestled and boxed. He moved to California in 1962. He worked for Pico Metal for several years. He was a pressman for the Los Angeles Times for 28 years, where he worked his way from apprentice to jou rneyman. He retired in 1992.

Survivors include three sons, Rex James Hotchkiss, Jr., Antioch, California, David Edward Hotchkiss, Corona, California and Adam Kurt Hotchkiss, Glendale, California; a daughter, Cynthia L. Swanger, Monroe, Georgia; a brother Arthur J. Hotchkiss , Avila Beach, California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
