Mrs. August M. Johnson was born in Ostergotland, Sweden August 17, 1866 and departed this life at the age of 85 years and 6 days.

She was confirmed in Sweden and accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age. She came to this country at the age of 18 years and was united in marriage to John F. Johnson on October 24, 1888 who preceded her in death March 21, 1944. Also on e son and one daughter preceded her in death.

Those left to mourn her departure are four daughters, Mrs. Selma Johnson of Osage City, Mrs. Florence Engberg of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Myrtle Faulkner of Kansas City, Mo., Miss Marie Johnson of Parsons; two sons, Harry Johnson of Danville, Ill. , and LeRoy Johnson of Richmond, Calif.; eleven grandchildren and four great grand children.

Mrs. Johnson was a fine christian woman, a wonderful wife and mother, ever kind and loving. She had been tenderly cared for by three of her daughters during her last illness.

Funeral services were held at the McElfresh Mortuary August 25 at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. N.E. Olson of the Grace Lutheran church. Mrs. George Church sang two solos, "Rock of Ages" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", accompanied by Mrs. Elme r Fager at the piano.

Pall bearers were Edd Engberg, Will Johnson, Philip Tru, Ralph Johnson, Rudolph Fager and Carl Youngberg. Interment was made in the Maple Grove cemetery at Rapp.

Relatives and friends from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson of Danville, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Engberg, Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle Faulkner and son, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Youngberg, Mrs. May Daniels, Mrs. Ruby Gates and Mis Mary Dooley all of Kans as City; Mr. and Mrs. Philip True, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Roberts and Mr. Carl Sutherland of Topeka. --
