!P: Her Marriage is thus noticed by Philip Henry in his Diary: --
!P: "1674. April 15. Cosin Daniel Benyon was marry'd to Miss. Ellen Ridgway, daughter of Mr. William Ridgway of Cool Lane: her portion £1000, wherewith hee discharged all or near all his debts, £800 being due to his four Sisters."
!P: Her father's death is thus recorded by Philip Henry: --
!P: "1674. August 23. Mr. Ridgway, of Cool-Lane, dyed. Before he dyed hee desired much to have seen his daughter Benyon then at London; but shee came too late. Hee sealed a request to his son William that he would, when Cool-Lane came to him, p ay £300 to Mr. William Dod, of Bletchley and mee for use of Cousin Benyon and their younger children."
!P: Her Will is dated 16th May, 1699. She is described therein as "Ellen Benyon, of Great Ash, in the county of Salop, widow and relict of Daniel Benyon, gentleman, lately deceased." She bequeaths her best silver tankard and her clock and tabl e in the hall at Ash, to her son John; her lesser silver tankard to her son Thomas; and her large silver cup to her son Paul. "John Savage, of Wrenbury Wood, in the county of Chester, gentleman," is a trustee. John Hulton, Samuel Hinton, and Joh n Williams, are witnesses.
