!Notes: James A Hotchkiss, listed him as just Cornelius Hotchkiss, but it's a pretty safe bet this is the same person. He had his parents and brother. It's unlikely he would have left out one more Hotchkiss child from Burlingame this close to hi s own age. The "C" in CD Hotchkiss, has to be Cornelius.
!Obituary: Topeka Capital-Journal Last modified at 11:09 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2000 - Don Chalmers - C.D. "Don" Chalmers, 88, Topeka, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at a Topeka care center. - He wa s born March 20, 1912, in Burlingame, to William and Margaret Hotchkiss Chalmers. He graduated in 1934 from Kansas State University with a degree in civil engineering. He was employed as an engineer by Osage County, the Soil Conservation Service , Dupont Co. and General Electric Co. He was assistant engineer of design for the Kansas Highway Commission before he retired in July 1977. - He was a member of First Congregational Church. - He married Leona "Sis" Olson on June 19, 1937, in Lawre nce. They lived in Lyndon from 1947 until 1950 and in Topeka since. She survives. - Other survivors include a son, Robert Chalmers, Arlington, Va.; a grandson; and a great-grandson. - Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Feltner Funeral Hom e in Lyndon. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery. Visitation will follow. - Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice in Topeka.
