!James Curley, 67, Osage City, died Friday night, June 27, in a Topeka hospital where he had been hospitalized. Mr. Curley had surgery in the Halstead Hospital on April 10 and was later re-admitted there for treatment. After being home for onl y three weeks he was re-admitted to a Topeka hospital on June 10. He had cancer.
!Mr. Curley was born August 29, 1901, in Tuluca, Ill., the son of Annie and James Curley. He came to Burlingame as a child and spent most of his life in Burlingame and Osage City.
!James Curley married Emma Martin on June 24, 1925, and spent their entire married life in Osage City.
!Mr. Curley operated a coal mine at Burlingame for 25 years and since 1947 has been a concrete contractor in Osage City.
!He was a member of the St. Patrick's Church, Osage City.
!Survivors include his widow, Emma Curley, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Lindsey, Osage City; a son, Robert Curley, Topeka; two brothers, John William (Jack) Curley of Osage City, and Colin Curley of Los Angeles, Calif; three sisters, M rs. Marguerite Parre and Mrs. Annie Rosetta, both of Osage City, and Mrs. Esther Tindell of Maitland, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
!Services were held at 9:00 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church in Osage City. Pall bearers were Carl Colstrom, Leo Schamle, Dave King, Ed Gilday, Paul Koch, and Clint Thompson.
!A rosary was recited at at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the McElfresh Mortuary.----
