!Article: (Burlingame Chronicle, 4 May 1944, page 1, col 6) -- Lt. William Ure Is "Missing In Action" --
!P: "2nd Lt. William Ure reported missing in action over Jugoslavia from a base in Italy on April 6" was the text of a telegram received here by Michael Ure last Friday, concerning his son. Mr. Ure still clings to the faint hope that the young ma n may have landed and be a prisoner of war, somewhere, though no such suggestion is advanced by military authorities.
!P: William was a navigator on a bomber, one of a crew of eleven men. Born at Herrin, Ill. Dec. 7, 1918, he grew to manhood, was married and enlisted there. While enroute east from the airbase at Hondu, Texas last fall he visited his father in Bu rllingame.
!P: Surviving relatives are his father, his wife in Herrin, Ill, and a half-brother, Howard Ure of San Pedro, California.
!Note: His fathers obituary later stated that he was a prisoner of war.
