!P: BURLINGAME -- Lewis O. "Loke" Maple, 81, Burlingame, died Monday, July 19, 1993, at a Burlingame nursing home.
!P: Mr. Maple worked for the Topeka Supply Depot at Forbes Air Base until it closed, then worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation 28 years before he retired.
!P: He was an Army veteran of World War II.
!P: He was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Burlingame, the son of Orville S. and Elizabeth Murray Maple. He grew up in Burlingame and was graduated from Burlingame High School in 1930.
!P: Mr. Maple was a member of Robert Heizer Post No. 198 of that American Legion in Osage City, a life member of Disabled American Veterans Association and a charter member of the Burlingame Social Card Club.
!P: His wife, Mrs. Jeanie Easton Maple, survives.
!P: Other survivors include two sons, Larry L. Maple, Auborn, and Terry L. Maple, Topeka; two sisters, Lorena Gifford, Burlingame, and Dorothy Michaels, Mobile, Ala.; and four granddaughters.
!P: Robert Heizer Post No. 198 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Burlingame Cemetery. Mr. Maple will lie in state from 2 until 8 p.m. today at Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame.
!P: Memorial contributions may be made to Burlingame First Responders or the Burlingame Library. --
