!P: She born June 21, 1921, at Burlingame, the daughter of Clifford and Annie Mae Jones Vandevord. She grew up in Burlingame and attended the Burlingame Schools.
!P: She married Stanley Fender on April 17, 1940. Many will remember them as school bus drivers for Scranton School District No. 75 from 1956 until 1961, when the family moved to Casper, Wyo. Anna returned to Burlingame in 1987, residing at th e Townsite Apartments until June of 2003. She resided at Osage Nursing & Rehabilitation at the time of her death.
!P: She is survived by a daughter, Maxine Thorpe, Tempe, Ariz.; a son, Rex Fender, Casper, Wyo.; two grandchildren, James Thorpe, Fort Collins, Colo., and Sarah Ann Fender, Phoenix; three brothers, John Vandevord, Topeka, and Robert Vandevord an d Dale Vandevord, both of Scranton; and several nieces and nephews in the Scranton and Burlingame Communities.
!P: She was preceded in death by her father on May 17, 1982, a brother, Clifford "Bud" Vandevord, on March 20, 1991, and her mother on July 10, 1993.
!P: Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burlingame Cemetery. Mrs. Fender will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame, where family visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
!P: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation or the Burlingame First Responders and sent in care of the funeral home.
