Richard Burkett Richard Earl Burkett, 87, Topeka, died Saturday, Nov 25, 2000, at a Topeka hospital. - He was born May 15, 1922, in Burlingame, to Walter and Martha Washington Burkett. He graduated fro m Burlingame High School. He lived in Topeka since 1946. He was a U.S. Cival Service employee at Forbes Air Base before he retired. - He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army from 1942 to 1946. - He was a member of Seaman Cong regational United Church of Christ, North Post No. 400 of the American Legion, Billard Post No. 1650 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Topeka Chapter No. 3 of Disabled American Veterans and Oakla IOOF Lodge No. 640, all in Topeka. - He married Doroth y Phyllis Trueblood on Aug. 28, 1946, in Topeka. She survives. A granddaughter, Crystal Burkett, preceded him in death. - Other survivors include two sons, Richard Burkett and Craig Burkett, both in Topeka; two daughters, Linda Lowe, Topeka, an d Carolyn Wilt, Rossville; a sister, Arlene Ramskill, Attica, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. - Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuart. Billard Post No. 1650 of Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct gr aveside services at Valencia Cemetery west of Topeka. Mr. Burkett will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. - Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Chapter No. 3 of Disabl ed American Veterans, 2021 Moundview Drive, 66604.
