!Obituary: (Burlingame Enterprise Chronicle, Thursday, 26 Oct 1944) -- Last Rites Held For Michael S. Ure --
!P: Funeral services for Michael S. Ure, 66, were held at the Lee Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22, at 2:30 o'clock, cunducted by Rev. Ray M. Brown. Music was furnished by Miss Dorothy Cooper and Miss Gloria Young, accompanied by Miss Pear l White. Burial was made with Masonic honors, in the Burlingame cemetery.
!P: Mr. Ure, who had lived at the home of his sister, Mrs Eliza Vandevord in South Park for the past four years, passed away quietly in his sleep last Thursday night. He had been aflicted with serious asthmatic and heart trouble for the past seve ral years, but was down town and about as usual the day before his death.
!P: Michael Scott Ure son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ure, was born Jan. 26, 1878 at New Lodge, Slamanan, Scotland. He came with his family directly from Scotland to Burlingame in 1888, where he grew to manhood and recieved his education.
!P: At the age of 21 he enlisted with other Burlingame boys in the Spanish-American war and served with the 22nd Kansas regiment in the Philippines. Upon his return he worked at railroading and mining, retiring 14 years ago.
!P: He was married to Anna Malone in January, 1918 in Illinois. She preceded him in death in June, 1936.
!P: He is survived by two sons, Howard Ure of San Pedro, Calif. and 2nd Lt. Wm. Ure, of the U.S. Air Service a prisoner of war in Germany since his plane went down over Jugoslavia April 6, 1944. Also, five sisters, Mrs. Eliza Vandevord, Mrs. Bess ie Vandevord, Mrs. Margaret Eaton, Mrs. Janet Parnell and Miss Nellie Ure, all of Burlingame, other relatives and many friends.
!P: He was a member of the Masonic Order of Galatia, Ill.; the Coal Minors Union of Illinois and the United Spanish-American War Veterans.
!P: Mrs. Wm. Ure, the daughter-in-law, was here from Roberts, Ill., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Pete Rapp and daughter Gloria of Chanute for the funeral.
