Obituary: Wayne V. Prost
KIMBERLING CITY, Mo.

Wayne V. Prost, Kimberling City, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, in his home in the company of his family at the age of 68 years. He was born in Osage City, Kan., on Oct. 5, 1935, the second of four sons of Frank and Alvera Prost. After graduating f rom high school in Osage City, Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Emporia State College on the GI Bill, where he met and married his wife of 43 years, Wynona Kay Kirkpatrick. After living and working in Kansas City, Kan., and Oz ark, Mo., Wayne and his family settled in Heber Springs, Ark., where they owned and operated the Stockholm Restaurant and were active members of the community.

In retirement, Wayne and Kay moved to Kimberling City, where Wayne continued his lifelong pursuit of artistic creation including wood carvings, pen and ink drawings, clay modeling and cowboy poetry. In their retirement, Wayne and Kay enjoyed man y western vacations at a working cattle ranch on the Larami e Plain of Wyoming.

Surviving are his wife, Kay; a son, David, Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Renee Fox, Nixa, Mo., and Angela Hensley, Heber Springs, Ark.; three brothers, Frank, Ronald and Kenneth, all of Carbondale; nine grandchildren; and countless friends an d loved ones.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church of Kimberling City with Richard Ogden, Rick Broadway and Sue Ewan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home-South Kimberling City. In lieu o f flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kimberling City Library or Community Hospice.
