!P: Iron prongs installed in the rails of a ladder for the purpose of saving life, became the instruments of death for Bryan Cole, in an accident at the Sante Fe shops in Topeka about 4 o'clock last Saturday afternoon.
!P: On duty at the shops where he was assistand foreman of the brifge and building gang, Bryan was fatally injured when a ladder so equipped fell from a passing truck in the course of which one of the metal prongs pierced his chest just above th e heart, puncturing the left lung.
!P: Suffering severe pain in the few minutes before he lost consciousness he was rushed to the Santa Fe hospital where death followed the next afternoon.
!P: Bryan Edwin Cole, eldest son of Tyson and Lula Whitney Cole, was born in Burlingame September 2, 1897, aged at his death December 10, 47 years. He was preceded in death by his father in October, 1929.
!P: He was united in marriage to Miss Isabelle Easton of this city, Nov. 18, 1933. To this union two children were born, Charles Wayne, and Kathleen Anne, who with the widow survive.
!P: Bryan was a veteran of World War I, serving as a gunners mate in the U.S. Navy for many months.
!P: He had been employed by the Sante Fe in various capacities since young manhood and had steadily advanced to positions of responsibility and trust. His home, the former Jim Organ property, and his family brought him much joy and satisfaction a nd he will be sadly missed in the family circle.
!P: Surviving are his wife and two children; his mother, Mrs. Lula Cole, Topeka; two brothers, Walter J. Cole, Chicago, and Harry Cole, Prairie City, Ore., and three sisters, Mrs. E. L. Kinney, Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. J. B. Stahl, San Diego, Cal if., and Mrs. Lucille Raub, Topeka.
!P: Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at three o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ray M. Brown.
!P: Long a member of Corinthian Lodge, No. 79, A F & A M, he was buried with Masonic honors, in the Burlingame cemetery.
!P: The heartfelt sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended to the bereaved mother, wife and children, and other members of the family.
